| Dougie and Sammy: The Story of an Unlikely Friendship by Jeffrey Barile This is the story of Dougie, a mixed-breed rescue dog who was found in an apple crate on a long dusty road in the South. And Sammy, who is one of many squirrels who make their homes high in the trees of a sea-side park in New England. Dougie has a thoughtful, polite manner about him, while Sammy is brash and has a rather get-to-the point personality. But, somehow, despite their differences, Dougie the dog and Sammy the squirrel formed a very unlikely friendship. You just never know who might become your next best friend. |

| Jeff was born and raised in Lynn, MA, a city 20 miles north of Boston. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, he returned to Lynn where he spent thirty-four years in the Lynn school system as a teacher, coach, and principal. During that time, Jeff earned a master's degree and a doctorate. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at a local community college. Jeff is married to his wife Kim, and they enjoy living near the ocean and taking trips to Italy. Their daughter Kellie lives only a few miles away from them, which allows Jeff plenty of time to hang out with his buddy Dougie. |
