ABC’s of the Bushkill Creek by Connie Hynes

Miss Red the Fox is a young, scatterbrained teacher charged with teaching the
alphabet to the fox kits along the Bushkill Creek.  She wishes to teach the kits
creatively, infusing them with wisdom they can use throughout their lives.  On the
morning of the lesson, Miss Red the Fox journeys from her den to the Education
Den.  Along the way, she experiences the sights, sounds, smells, flora and fauna
of the Creek. She is amazed by all that she never noticed before.  In ways obvious
to the reader, yet not acknowledged by Miss Red the Fox, she encounters every
letter in the alphabet in her natural surroundings.  At the end of her journey, the fox
gets her answer in a quiet flash of realization.
