| Estrela the Star by Nicolaas Lems Estrela’s one desire was to be the brightest star in the sky. Every night she would shine with all her might, so that people would notice her and take an interest in her. One day an evil cloud appeared in the sky, and devised a plan to stop the star from achieving her goal. Little did this cloud know, Estrela the star had help. With determination, perseverance, and the help of an earthly friend, Estrela conquers the cloud, and achieves her goal. |
| Nicolaas Lems was born and raised in West Valley City, Utah. He now lives in Magna, UT with his lovely wife Ranae. Nicolaas is currently pursuing a career in education. He loves to teach and see the excitement the students get when they learn something new. He also enjoys doing many other things as well, including camping, hiking, playing the piano, and spending time with his family. Estrela the Star was inspired while Nicolaas was serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Brazil. For this mission Nicolaas had to learn the Portuguese language. While studying the language, Nicolaas learned many words including the names of the characters in his story. The names of the characters in the story are their respective Portuguese words associated with them.
